This is great.

New Bike – soonish
I have recently ordered a Brothers frame (the murdered out – black and black) and I am going to attempt to put it together. Brothers are installing a headset nut and a bottom bracket so hopefully I dont need any crazy tools for the rest of it. I am going for a mostly black (murdered out) colour scheme but some parts like drop bars and crank are shiny silver. I just ordered some nice Nitto bars and Mavic wheels also got a 20T cog, I currently ride a 18T so it shouldnt be too much different but I will get mad tonk legs.
I guarantee that I will do something wrong, or brake some of these parts when putting it together, and will then have to run to Brixton cycles and get them to fix it.
On another note I am working on lolbeard design and build but I am a bit busy lately.

Bass Guitar

I recently brought a Squire (cheap Mexican made Fender) 0′s Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. It is surprisingly good, better than all the other basses I played in the bass cellar on Denmark Street. From this bass I have cast the decisions that if you buy a squire as long as it isn’t an affinity series it is probably good.
In summary it has more bottom end than a Kingston Trawler.
I think I am going to get a Orange Terror Bass head in a few months I will post about that.

One Page, New Age

A couple of years ago my friend Simon who was at the time a web designer put me on to onepagelove.com which showcases the best in single page websites. This is a fairly recent idea and it does lend its self very well to modern web design. I myself am a fan of them and I built one a few years ago for Wendy Williams – it is pretty basic but it was featured on onepagelove.com.
Here is a short list of single page websites that I like:
Cahoona.co.uk is a site I recently saw that stood out in my mind. It has great use of jquery for the lastest work section and mostly the what we do section.
Davidsalvatori.com award winning wordpress one page style site, again a single column.
Launchlist.net a launch list for websites this makes perfect sense to be all in one page.

Cosstores.com one of my new favourite shops has also got a one page website, they have it in the column style and a navigation stays with you at all times and sends you around the canvas.
One thing I do have to say about one page style sites is they are mainly build by designers for their own sites, not many clients seem to end up with one page websites. Single page sites really do have their uses but it depends on many factors; amount of information needed to be displayed, how image heavy is the site, navigation, and if there is enough development time.

Summer Photos
Some new photos I have taken with my Pentax K1000 (all manual, used by many people when taking photography courses back in the day). I am posting them up here as they shouldnt really go in the portfolio section – as I dont think they are very good.

To view the full images: Bridge, Harbour, Park 1, Park 2.
There should be some more summer photos when I finish a roll in the Praktica zoom 800AF with some information about it.

Business Cards

I thought I would finally get round to get some cards made and I had heard of moo.com a few years ago so I hit them up for some. They are really simple like my brain. They come in two styles one has large Olly Shenton logo on the front and details on the back in a black dot, and the other option comes with just a large black dot on the front and the details in a black dot on the back.
Now I just need to remember I have them and give them to people…..

My current bike: Maurice

My current bike is pretty rubbish, but I brought it as my gateway bike to fixed. I have changed a few parts on it partly due to my idiocy and because I want it to look better.
I got Brixton Cycles to change the crank arm and ring as I managed to strip the thread from one of the arms where the pedal screwed in. But the bike is the better for it as then I got new MKS sylvan touring pedals with powergrips and the crank is now sugino messenger in black. It is a pretty colourful bike which means some people who dont know anything about bikes really like it, and the people that do know bikes, they know it is pretty toilet. Picture of entire bike.

Football websites

As I have worked a little with football and sport clubs, I thought it would be a bit interesting to write a little bit about what I have noticed about premier football teams.
Tottenham Hotspur - As a spurs fan I do spend quiet a bit of time on their site, it is pretty average for football. Most premier league teams have a decent site but nothing amazing considering the amount of turn over they have.
Man City - The best football and probably best sports sites out there. It is revolutionary compared to most other premier league teams sites.
Made by aqueduct and another company I cant remembered the name of sorry! The City site features Cufon (javascript text replacement – pretty common now), javascript box displays and sliders. All very modern stuff and the design is very visual which is the main thing I like. I am pretty sure the new design of the site has been up for nearly a year, and when it first was launched I was blown away by it.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Manchester United, Liverpool websites are all ok, but they are nothing amazing you can find most information you want, but they are too cluttered. Most sites also have splash pages which are very annoying as it is generally just trying to sell you some nonsense.

I found out from work that a lot teams have signed up for a long time contract mostly in the Championship, and they have to stick to a certain layout and design. You can see the similarities between these sites: Sunderland, Stoke, Wolves.
You would guess that the big premier league teams would invest money into a good website like Man City. With City having taken the first step in pushing football websites into the modern age I am sure the rest will follow.

Bike frame choice
I am thinking of attempting to build my own bike from scratch (I shall post what I currently ride in a while). I am starting to eye up frames, its either the Brother frame or classic steamroller, I will need to go chat to Brixton Cycles first as they know many many things.

And it begins
It beings now…. Well I have started putting together the site. On here I will post things I get up to mainly work wise. Then probably just about things I have discovered, my views, and bicycle things (after having sold my beloved Pug 306 as it is completely pointless having it where I live) I need to get on the streetcar thing for required car journeys.
